Change
Turns out that the whole new year new me thing works. Well kind of and not really. I have had success with some behaviors but with others it’s been New Year, same old me.
I haven’t really set hard and fast goals this year other than loose ones. Train consistently, eat like i know i should, write as often as I can, Sober Joctober (sober October in January and maybe beyond) and finally, work through finances and establish better business practices (restaurants).
The good news is I’m 100% on the first three, but the one that takes the most discipline aka, the one I least want to do, I’ve been, in a word, meh.
Isn’t that always the case though. It’s always easy to do sometimes new things and or get back to a routine we know pays dividends, but doing the things that represent real discomfort or a 180 degree turn are always the tough ones.
In the past I would have just let my lack of success at making large strides towards a change derail me and fall back into or remain in the same old habits.
This year I am doing a little bit better. I am recognizing that I’m lack in an area and instead of calling myself a piece of shit and calling it a day. I’m giving pause and picking an action that will build confidence in the area where it’s needed.
If it’s exercise you’re trying to get better at and you’re struggling. Don’t throw in the towel. Do one thing. One workout. A walk. Anything.
The same applies to eating. Anyone in the world can eat better for ONE MEAL.
Rome wasn’t built in a day.
One step can lead to two, three and onward.
Better, not perfect.
