9 minutes
For the last week I’ve pulled a number of blog posts out of thin air. I wouldn’t think of much to say, but I’d go back and read a snippet of something I started and I would be able to elaborate on it and TA DAH!! Pure internet gold!
Not this morning. Everything old looked as dated as it was or the posts were bleak and harsh and not the way i wanted to start the day.
So I waited and drank coffee and got ready to run. Missing a day because I didn’t have something meaningful to ramble on about is no big deal. People can live without you for a day (or likely months).
But then I just picked up my phone and started here. No agenda. No plan. No big idea other than “just see what happens.”
This year for me is going to be about pressing when just stopping and going on with the day is either what I feel like or is just what I do. This year is about defying “stop” and embracing “go”. It’s about being a little bit better and putting out something good instead of nothing great.
This took 9 mins to write. 9 mins of just letting something okay happen because that’s what I had in me this morning.
But this 9 mins is great because it represents what daily discipline means. These 9 mins represent what it takes to change. These 9 mins matter a little more because I could have CHOSEN to not start.
But now I have a 9 min success to start my day with. 9 mins of calm. 9 mins of “better than”.
Have a great day.
