One part just needs the quiet
One of my favorite songs of all times is called “I Will Not Take These Things for Granted” which is on Toad the Wet Sprocket’s third album, Fear. The album is still in heavy rotation at my house and it’s on a playlist I made called “Songs I wished I’d written,” that I made one day when someone asked me about what those songs would be as I alluded to it in another post.
The first two lines pretty sum up how I’ve been feeling these days.
One part of me just wants to tell you everything.
One part just needs the quiet.
No this isn’t going to be another deep dive into misery nor another explanation of myself. I’m not saying I’m done with that. I just need the quiet. Sometimes we all need it.
I’ve been making a conscious effort to not pollute the internet with more woe, more drama, more everything. To be more thoughtful. To think of a topic instead of just talking.
So instead of me going on and on. Today, go to Spotify or whatever and listen to that song. I think it’s lovely and while it’s probably a song about a relationship, it carries a simple message we all can benefit from.
“I will not take these things for granted. Anymore.”
