Consistency
The notion would be that I put out 4 days worth of content yesterday, so today, I could slack. This is just what makes you a slacker and I’m pushing through that.
This morning there’s a pop up tropical storm (only in Louisiana) and it’s raining sideways so I, in my esteemed wisdom, am going to run. I mean, I tell the kids and people I coach “What if it rains on race day? You need to be prepared.” Oh, Fortuna, you wicked mistress.
I also tell the athletes I coach that there are no magic workouts, that consistency breeds success. It’s the stacking of efforts over time that make us better not one killer workout on one day. You get as much (or more) from a shitty 5 miler on random Wednesday the day after a track workout as you do from the track workout. Stacking bricks.
This also has to apply to life. 2400 words on Friday followed by nothing on Saturday registers as one win, one loss. 2-0 sounds way better than 1-1, especially when you had full control of that second W.
As I head out into the muck, I give pause and know that no matter how it goes, I have already won.
