3-5 MINS OF PF

I spend a sizeabke amount of time half telling you what to do. It’s easy, and from over here behind the keyboard, most times sounds right. I’m not always right of course but at a “being right rate of 99.97%” we are just rounding up and saying that it’s close enough for government work by a solid 78%.

Since I started this I’ve spent more hours than is healthy wondering what the endgame is. Be the poor man’s Tony Robbins?  Write a book? Go back to school and get a psych degree?  Happily, I’ll probably only do two of those. You’ll get to figure it out.

But seriously, I wonder if this needs more focus. More categorizing, more a2+b2=c2 or to just keep on free styling it.  I know I’m prone to loosey goosey and I’ve learned to accept that, but Tony Robbins didn’t become a zillionaire by loosey goosey, so if I’m gonna make 12’s of dollars doing this. I need a little more focus.

No sooner do I type that sentence do I know that it’s not going to go down like that. I’m a giver, I give, it’s what I do (sarcasm). Not because of altruism, but because I can’t figure out how to charge for things without feeling like a whore, which, if you hadn’t noticed, is one of my strongest inner driving forces. Combine that with a total lack of risk aversion to act on my most random whim and, well, you get the picture.

So when in doubt, I go back to why?  If not for money and fame and a trained goat named Steve, then why do I do this. Last night I was looking through all of these posts to try and figure that out. I’ll say things aloud like “I do it to help people be better,” or “I do it because I have too much in my brain,” but the obvious (to you) reason is that I am doing it for me. To help me figure it out. If you get some “figuring,” out of it, then it’s a twofer. We hopefully both, at the least, have considered something more than a carpool schedule or the dismal state of world affairs for a few minutes, and that, is good.

I write these posts because I have to. Through that, I hope you see that whatever ails you is no different that what ails everybody. We all face impossible burdens, some self built and some randomly assigned to us because of well, randomness. I’ll always remind you that the world doesn’t have it out for you, you’ve decided it does and ergo, it FEELS like it does. I’ll remind you that you can change that endless loop with one step out of it, it starts with deciding it’s not so for a second, then a minute, then and hour, then a day. Then you decide to get up and try it again, even though it may feel like the forces united against you in your sleep. They haven’t. You just haven’t decided for enough days in a row for it to become mostly the norm.

I’ll remind you that you should exercise. As many days as you can in a way that you can most easily do it. I remind you of that because it helps with the deciding that you’re good enough. It benefits your body and after awhile will feel better than the alternative. I’ll remind you that exercise probably won’t make you lose a ton of weight, but that exercise begets better choices because it’s a mindset that builds upon itself and makes eating right easier.

I’ll remind you that eating right is the only way you will lose weight and that it’s easier than you think. I’ll tell you that fad diets may kickstart things but won’t last and that the only way to lose and keep it off is to eat more vegetables, drink less alcohol, and most importantly, remove processed foods from your diet. Sorry. Not sorry.

Finally, I’ll do all those things every time I can through anecdotal stories and observations that come to me right when I wake up each day. I’ll do my best to do it more days than not until I can’t think of anything else to say about things. Luckily that’s a long list of things, so we are going to be here awhile.

I started this with the thought that I was going to tell you about a new idea I had, hence the title.  Maybe tomorrow, because this turned out better than what I was going to say anyway.
