Dream
Do you dream of a better life for yourself? I feel like we all do, right? To get to that place we’ve thought about for so long. Could be anything. Dream career, dream fitness, dream relationship. You can see it perfectly in your mind. Won’t it be great when you get there?
Before I go all sideways on you, know that most dreams, no matter how unrealistic, can be attained. It just depends on what you’re willing to do and how long you’re willing to do what it takes. But most of us won’t.
I keep coming back to this idea of finishing. Of doing the 100% it takes to win in anything. I keep coming back to it because currently I feel I’m not much better than 80%. Maybe that’s all there is time for, but it leaves me dreaming of what I could be.
As small and agile my company is, I consistently feel slow to act. To take the steps needed to get that extra 20%. I’m not sure why that is. Some days I feel like I’m waiting for something to happen to step closer to my dreams. Some days I feel like I’ll never get there. That’s just the nature of dreaming. When you go to sleep. You give up the wheel.
Sleeping is a great analogy for what the days moving towards a dream sometimes feel like. Like your a player in what’s happening but you’re watching it happen instead of taking an active role in the dream. There’s no controlling the sleep dreams. That’s the beauty of the real life ones.
So much of getting what we want is right in front of us. We just don’t do it. Day after day you dream. Day after day, you don’t “do”.
Today maybe do one of those things that will get you closer. Or at the least. Dream a little dream.
