RESONATE
This has become a space of sharing. Nostalgia. Emotions. Ideas. Slanted musical opinion. All sorts of things. We start out the mornings with a thought and five minutes of a guided something. Some days calming. Some days not. The showing up is most important though I think.
I told a friend recently that the key for more good has just been consistency. The more often I write. The more often and likely good writing happens. This makes total sense. Consistency makes almost everything we do better. They always told us practice make perfect. They weren’t wrong.
The other morning after a run, a good friend of mine was complimenting on a post from the day before. It was about trust, communication, friendship and love. It really hit him hard he said. I wasn’t necessarily shocked. But I was surprised. I’m always surprised when the things I say resonate with others even while knowing this is what I have set out to do.
By being consistent we give ourselves the opportunity for greatness to emerge from the mundane. The bad days get not as bad and the good days get better. That whole rising tide thing. The so called throwaway posts I speak about becoming less throwaway. Sometimes maybe just one well written sentence that resonates. Starting someone’s day off right or closing out there day with a welcomed calm.
I like the surprise of someone saying things like “this is my favorite”, especially when I’ve thought nothing of it. It makes it all the more better and reinforces what I tell myself. That it matters. That the pouring forth was received by someone even when, especially when, it’s a shared blink. That’s where resonating starts. In recognizable instances. For that I’m thankful.
It’s all of this that give posts even like this one, a meandering self given attaboy, some meaning for me. It’s taken me awhile to recognize that, but I know that’s there’s something here for someone.
Even if it’s only just for me.
