I come undone.

What do you do when the day starts to unravel?  Is there a trick to keeping it together or am I just on my own?  I mean, I don’t have any tricks other than deep breaths. Which means for the past two days I’ve been practically OMMM-ing at an audible volume.  Seriously though. What are we to do? Give in? Cry? Or just grin and bear it.

There’s been an oft posted meme or inspirational quote that says something to the effect of us all being “undefeated against bad days”. That may be true, but when you’re in it, no one remembers this.  I mean undefeated means it didn’t kill you, which is a hell of a marker for success. By that token, I’m also undefeated against the bubonic plague….so far.

Really though, the last couple of days haven’t been that bad, I was just super aware of how things that were beyond my control completely dropped a baby ruth in my swimming pool.  I wanted to pick it up and Carl Spackler it, but the risk was too high. Way too high.

So instead, I laughed.  Yeah, I may have slammed my already broken and waiting for replacement phone on the counter.  Maybe I dropped a couple almost audible (read: heard down the block) F-bombs. And maybe I almost lost my cool, but by 10 mins later, I just had to laugh and keep rockin’n rollin, because really, when it goes sideways, that’s your best course of action.

Stop, assess, laugh, and keep hammering until the tables turn upwards.  WHICH THEY ALWAYS DO!

It’s important to note that of course this may take more than 10 mins, but as stated above, we are all undefeated against the bad days.  Staying the course may seem tough, and I get that, as I have fallen into slumps, but figuring out how to recognize a tailspin and deciding to endure it as positively as you can is a talent you can nurture through practice.

So buckle up, try and grin, and always bear it.  Can’t be putting an L in that column just yet.
