VINDICATED

I was giddy. It was under 60 degrees and had just started a run with my friend. Most days I mumble a good morning and we start moving. As I work, run and otherwise spend hours a week with my running partner, some days there’s not a whole lot to talk about. If I miss something, there will be 40 other opportunities to talk. This morning though, I was excited. I was going to write an ad for our minivan. I’d waited for this day for a while.

Most people would dread selling a car to the general public. I was committed to having fun and knew that if done well, it would be a breeze. I didn’t expect what happened to happen.

Most days I open up a page and let the words flow. No plan. No rewrites. Little editing. I just let it rip. I did the same with the ad and in 9-13 minutes I was done. I added pics. Hit share and went on with the day.

By noon there were a bunch of likes and some banter. I love banter. It’s the best. By 4 I had shown it an had a commitment to buy as long as Darryl, their mechanic said all was cool. By 5-:00 I had 3 other people wanting to buy it. The games had begun.

By this morning it’s been shared close to 1300 times and random people are texting and messaging me challenging me to mini van drag races and offering their children as the wager. Seriously I don’t want any of y’all’s kids unless they’ve graduated med school and are ready to support their new step dad.

For months I’ve been trying to figure out how to garner more eyes on this little blog. Turns out you utter “Milf Millennium Falcon,” and things start looking up for you.

Today’s going to be a good day.  This weekend a reminder that we find vindication in the most bizarre places.

I knew I was decent at writing. I didn’t think a classified ad would be my ticket to almost, kinda sorta going viral.

Heading out now to hunt estate sales and buy/sell some more garbage.
