Day2: Band Name or Pandemic Crusher

I wondered this morning if anything other than Coronageddon thoughts would dominate my writing this morning and I’m sorry to say. No. Maybe not what you’d think. Nothing really about the impending unknown implications are at the forefront. No, instead, I really am enjoying saying “flattening the curve”.  I mean I understand the concept and all. That’s not what I mean. I mean I like saying the words. It’s like a cool band name I heard that I wish I would have thought of.

No one: “What are you doing tonight?”

Me: “Going to the Varsity Theater to see Flattening the Curve.”

Just sounds right.

Good band names are like that, but what’s bizarre is that there are also terrible band names that become great because of their music. Nothing  about Toad the Wet Sprocket lets it stand alone and sound cool. Put their album Fear beside it and they become awesome. Kajagoogoo-terrible. Too Shy and Limal’s hair. We are back in business!

This works in the converse too. Coldplay is a great name. Play Viva la Vida and wompwomp. Total deflation.

Finally there’s the case of Toto. Roseanna, Africa and Toto all suck. Nothing is going to change that.

Band names are some of the single hardest things to come up with. That’s what makes Flattening the Curve a front runner. It come from out of nowhere with a concept of pandemic busting power and the first thing I thought of was how this may become my project. Flattening the Curve with their hit album Pandemic has a perfect ring to it. Regardless if it will be forever tied to a historic negative event. I mean you do know where Led Zepplin came from right?  For my youthful readers, google it.

Until then I’ll start working on the hits. Stay tuned for my second band Pat Fellows The Social Distance.
