At the End of the Day

There’s only so many hours in the day and so far I’ve used most of them. Not a bad way to slide in for the night. My morning started with a ride when I’d usually be writing, but the last few days it felt like I was writing for the act of finishing. Nothing more.

At times I look at that as a reason and think it terribly vain. Or dumb. Or both. But a deal to get back to it was made and there’s a power to the streak. 30 mins spent completing instead of just shutting it down for the day.

I’d be lying if I said I lay out the next day the night before. I have had streaks of this from time to time but it never lasts. Especially if I attempt it from bed. I’m snoring before I can get to a clean sheet of paper.

I do think of the first few hours. What’s after coffee and a workout?  Anything else?  I probably have said things like “control the day or it controls you.” Rarely do I attach a strong enough leash.

In my list of “once and for alls,” being super organized is high.  That “once” usually doesn’t last through 9 a.m. What I lack in that type of personality, I gain in this type. The ability to express myself through words. No one ever brags about how their maths can move an audience. I’ll take this.

So have a good night. For me it’s close to done. I know I’m running at 5:30 and have a TV thing at 7. A meeting at 1 and see what else is coming.

There’s beauty in the chaos sometimes. If you can find it.
