DAY 16: The Turn Off

DAY 16: The Turn Off

costa.jpg

This morning I awoke at 2:30 a.m. to head to NOLA for an early flight to Costa Rica.  I will be spending the next week on the beach, doing what I can to turn it all off.

One of the luxuries/curses of being pseudo self employed is that you do have a flexible schedule.  I travel quite a bit, but when home, I do my best to chip in with car pool, cooking and such.  The downside of this, is I have made a deal with myself to handle things when they come in.  This means I am answering emails or working at all hours of the day.

This week, except for a daily blog entry, I am going to do my damndest to turn it off.  To ignore the emails, the requests, and the calls.  No one dies if they don't get running shoes this week.  The New Year will come on Wednesday and Thursday and 2014 will begin.  I will return to the busiest month of the year for me.  I'll have to see 40 accounts, enter $1 million worth of running shoe orders and course direct The Louisiana Marathon.

So this week, I'll surf, swim, sail, zip line, find trails to run, go on adventures and chase monkeys in Costa Rica.

This New Year, I won't over sell a resolution of unplugging that I can't fulfill, but I will resolve to be more present with my family when I have the time.  You should turn off some too.
